WEDNESDAY CLUB is a monthly event, usually taking place the second Wednesday of the month from September until May, organized according to specific themes where the children give a presentation that they have prepared. This allows the children the opportunity to learn presentation skills as well as research skills and listening skills. Some examples of themes have been poetry recitation, science, history mystery, provinces of Canada and fine arts. Children are not required to do a presentation. They are welcome to just listen and enjoy other’s presentations.

HOME EDUCATORS’ MEETING is a time where parents and teachers of home educated children can come together to ask questions and receive encouragement in their home school journey. Time is also spent planning future field trips and ends with prayer. All are welcome.

FIELD TRIPS take place once a month, usually the fourth Wednesday of the month and have included a variety of venues located in and around Vancouver. Trips taken in the past have been to Vancouver Art Gallery Emily Carr tour and oil pastel workshop, Surrey Art gallery including a visit with the Artist in Resident, Vancouver Museum Animation Workshop, Museum of Flight, Vancouver International Children’s Festival, Theatre Productions at Carousel Theatre, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra Elementary Children’s Programs, Greater Vancouver Regional District Capilano Watershed, Grouse Mountain.

JUNE APPRECIATION DAY is a fun time to get together before the summer break. Each child is welcome to exhibit something that they worked on during the year that they are particularly proud of. The project will be displayed with a blank comment/ encouragement sheet on which others can write a brief note to the child stating how they enjoyed their work. This is followed by make-your-own ice cream sundaes! This event is held one evening in June. All family members are encouraged to come.

SUMMER PARK DAYS are more informal, impromptu events that are organized during the summer. We meet at a park or pool in the area and have some fun together. Parents send out e-mails detailing location and time.
